FLAMINGOs
A
womens t - shirt "Flamingo", also embroidered on the lower
right. we used a cotton yarn for this embroidery. the formerly used
viscose rayon is not the best option regarding sustainability and
environment, if it is produced with chemical harmful substances. so
we chose the cotton yarn, which is pretty nice but not as shiny as
the viscose yarn.

A
polo - shirt for the "Flamingo" collection, opulently
embroidered on the lower right. 30cm x 30cm dancing flamingos
stitched with Marathon effect yarn on the Janome MC 500E in 35.000
stitches and 1,25h time.

MASKPRINTING
Printing with masks is an easy and cheap way to design your own
textiles.
All you need to put your cutting-edge design onto fabric is low-budget
and fits into one picture:
1) board
with smooth waterproof surface
2) color rollers
3) surface to roll out colors before printing
4) textile colors
5) print masks
6) cups for mixing colors
7) iron
you can find pretty much all of this stuff at your local hardware
store. before printing you need some nice print masks. put up your
design in inkscape and cut it directly with the inkscape plotter
extension or print on paper to cut it out by hand. waterproof
photopaper or something similar is recommended if you want to reuse
the print masks.
Next span the textile on the board and iron it. The print workflow is
pretty much the same like working digital - print in layers, use
gradients for lights and shadows - basic color first, then light
colors, afterwards dark colors and finally highlights. check out the
example on the picture below:
at last don‘t forget to iron your textile to fix the colors!
