Screen - printing is a versatile and exciting way to create nice textiles and you just need a few things. Like the screen - printing - sets from Bobbinhood. the set contains all you might need -  screen, squeegee, one eco - colour and masking paper. The paper is pretty robust, suitable for plotting, water-resistant and reusable a couple of times. You don't need more than a little practise to put nice prints on your favourite textiles. just cut some nice masks and there you go. for example - roses.

...and the finished t-shirt:

Actually its a good time for a theme with chicken and roosters - especially because the year of the rooster ends 2017. good enough of a reason to have a closer look at the chicks.

its cool to take the reference - photography yourself, especially if you have an idea for the theme and you are guessing which perspectives and viewpoints could be suitable for the artwork:chickenrooster

the photography of the rooster is the template for a sketch with pen and paper. the legs are not ideal, so the perspective of the sketch and the final emboridery will be different:

the embroidery - template with inkscape:

so the flamingo embroidery still wasn't perfect although the sketches were nice and lively on paper. but it is sometimes difficult to port the style of the sketches into the pattern. so here is another try to get the originally cartoon bird onto textile, without loosing to much of its appeal.

and the actual template covering the original idea a bit better:
